This story begins with a young married couple in a small basement suite in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Matt and I had been living a quiet and simple life for the last year.  Matt was attending college to become an aircraft maintenance engineer. I was working full-time as a dental receptionist to support him and pay the rent. We were enjoying this season of our lives and getting quite comfortable with our routine. Money was tight but our life was filled with love, joy, and peace. Every evening we were among friends playing board games, meeting for Bible studies, and participating in the free social events at Church of the Rock. The first time I left on a bike tour, I nearly died. It was 2013, and I was having the worst summer of my life. I had just graduated university and I was so discouraged and over-worked that all I wanted to do was escape. I would stay up late at night dreaming of being free, alive, and as far away from my current surroundings as possible. In my mind, that freedom took on the form of was on a bicycle. A place where I could be outside all day, every day, and be physically active from sunrise to sundown. I wanted to feel the distance between myself and my home. The journey to cycle east around the world was not a rash decision, nor was it done impulsively. When I received my first invitation from God to start traveling east around the world (read Our Journey Begins: The First Call) I was immediately put on edge. The last time I had attempted to embark on a bike trip without God’s invitation or blessing it had nearly killed me (read A Failed Bike Tour). I had absolutely no intention of making the same mistake twice. So for me to even consider acting on such a grand endeavour, I needed to make sure that it was God sending me and not my own selfish ambition or vain conceit.
